How To Handle Criticism

Criticism.. you're going to get it no matter what you do, we all get negative feedback at one time or another, but its how you choose to handle it that will define you. If its untrue- disregard, if its unfair- keep from irritation, if its ignorant- smile, if its justified- learn from it.

How do you handle cruel criticism or unwanted comments on your blog?

  1. I don't mind constructive criticism... as we can learn from these... I don't like criticism that sounds like it is supposed to be well meaning, when it feels like there are no positive.

We do need to learn how to handle criticism .. I am still leaning... have a great weekend ahead Michelle :)

  2. I totally agree with Launna! I usually don't get harsh critics but one day I received a totally idiotic critic and this made me really angry! It was definitely not constructive and just on purpose!

  3. When criticism is constructive that is well ... we can only learn and improve from it! But if a criticism is dictated only by envy, jealousy and malice... the situation is more different and unfortunately the world is full of envious people!

  4. I really appreciate this post Michelle, thanks for the advice, I don't like criticism because my personality is very much a perfectionist, but the constructive kind can only help one to be better.

  9. Cuando la critica es positiva te ayuda a mejorar, lo malo son esas personas que hacen critica destructiva.

  12. I always think about it when I get criticism, I mean, trying to do things not to repeat the mistakes I've been accused to do. It hurts, but when it is justified, I helps you to grow up in some way :)

  20. If I get criticism in my "real" life I think about if the hint is helpful and/or true for me. What I always try to avoid is to apologize for myself. Normally I say only "Thanks for the hint." Or I ask if the critisiser has some tips for me to do it better in future. And honestly I work with the same scheme on my blog. If I'm really confused I ask my husband for advise and if I see the critisiser is right I try to transfer the hint in my life.

Hope you had a happy weekend dear Michelle!

  27. It is so true. There are definitely different types of criticism. I don't mind constructive criticism at all (however I know I can sometimes take things too personal), but 'criticism' that borders mean or bully type comments is something I don't tolerate at all. There's no need to be mean. Not that I've had a harsh critic really, but you can tell when someone is being genuine or plain mean. Well there's my 2 cents LOL!
